2008 Benefits Information for District Employees

The 2008 Open Enrollment for Employee Benefits is closed. District employees can no longer make benefit elections or modify your coverage categories.

The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) thanks all employees who participated.

NOTE: The CIGNA Open Access Plus health benefit plan will no longer be available to District employees effective December 31, 2007.

The DC Department of Human Resources will transition all employees currently enrolled the CIGNA Open Access Plan as well as those employees that selected the plan during Open Enrollment 2008 to the newly offered AETNA Open Access plan.

The AETNA Open Access plan is similar to that of the previous plan in that it does not require a Primary Care Physician (PCP) or referrals to specialty physicians. For your convenience, AETNA has provided a toll-free number, 1-888-238-6258 for more information on the plan. The premiums for the AETNA Open Access Plan are shown in the tables below.

You may also print temporary indentification cards for your new AETNA plan by visiting its secure member website and enrolling in just a few quick and easy steps.

If you do not wish to be enrolled in the AETNA Open Access plan, you will have until February 28, 2008, to waive or select another health benefit carrier. Employees who do not opt to make changes during this period will remain in the AETNA Open Access plan.

DCHR is committed to providing you with a high level of customer care in administering your benefits programs as a District government employee. If you wish to waive your benefit coverage or select another benefit program, please contact the Benefits and Retirement Administration on (202) 442-7627.

Employees can continue to register for Employee Self Service (ESS) (Note: this link opens a page accessible only to DC government employees) to review your benefit elections and personal information online from your office computer.

If you have any questions, please contact the DC Department of Human Resources’ HR Answers customer service center at (202) 442-9700.
