Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts: Carryover FAQs

An Internal Revenue Service change to the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) modifies the “Use-It-or-Lose-It” rule and allows participating active employees to carry over up to $500 in unused funds from one year to the next. The District allows HCFSA participants to carry over up to $500 of unused funds from the previous year into the next plan year.
