DC Department of Motor Vehicles Pre-Screen Job Event

The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will host a Pre-Screening Job Event on Monday, December 18, 2017.

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm (Open for limited number of walk-ins)  

Positions:

Supervisory Legal Instrument Examiner

This position is located within one of the Service Centers operations of the department. The incumbent will work in a matrix organization and be cross trained in the functions of each administration. The administrations consist of functions involving vehicle titling, vehicle registration, driver's licensing and identification, and ticket hearing support. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact between front-line employees and management with primary responsibility for ensuring the integrity, effectiveness, and efficiency of the customer service provided by DMV employees. The incumbent is responsible for planning, evaluating, and supervising activities and staff at the customer service facilities. The incumbent will be working in stressful environments where superior customer service will be utilized. Supervisory Legal Instrument Examiner Description

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Hearing Examiner

This position is located in the Adjudication Services Administration, District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Incumbent conducts administrative mail hearings relating to the issuance of pedestrian, parking, and minor moving violation including citations issued by photo enforcement technology.  These administrative proceedings include adjudication of mail and online submissions. Key Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law is preferred
  • Two (2) years of researching, analyzing and presenting cases for government hearings, or conducting these hearings and rendering the resultant decisions; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.

IT Specialist

This position is located within the Department of Motor vehicles (DMV) Public Information Office. The IT Specialist (Webmaster) is responsible for performing all development and maintenance of website content including records, forms, applications, and graphics which ensures operational functionality of DMV’s website and online records search tool. Key Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in web design, maintenance and content management highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of visual design/presentation, and/or specialized subject matter knowledge to present information and communicate ideas electronically.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in website management and technology, including site maintenance processes/procedures, development of hypertext markup language (HTML) and customary programming languages.
  • Knowledge of DRUPAL web production, including editing, design, and graphic tools. Knowledge of critical thinking in resolution of DRUPAL usage problems and the ability to convey DRUPAL best usage practices.
  • Knowledge of user-friendly web design, Adobe, Acrobat Photoshop, and records management tools, such as FileNet.

Legal Instrument Examiner

This position is located in the Service Center throughout the Department of Motor Vehicles. Incumbent supports customers’ transactions in all areas of the Department's Service Center operations. These transactions include first time vehicle registration, registration renewal, learner's permit, driver's permit and renewals, commercial operator's permit, non-driver identification cards, residential parking permits (RPP), reciprocity parking permits, titles transactions, and related administrative support functions, and tickets processing support, contesting, hearings, appeals, and other support functions.   • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.

Motor Vehicle Inspector

This position is located within the Department of Motor Vehicles, Vehicle Service Administration (Inspection Division).  The incumbent performs all necessary safety and emission inspection on a variety of vehicles, such as passenger cars, taxicabs, trucks, buses, tractor-trailers and certain types of mobile construction equipment, etc. Inspects overall exterior condition and inspects operations of windshield wiper and washer, speedometer, turn signals and on a rotation or as need basis, work computer terminal to process and review vehicle information. Key Qualifications

  • The incumbent must possess a valid drivers’ license necessary to operate motor vehicles in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • The incumbent must be capable of operating vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions, four –wheel drives and constant four wheel drive vehicles.
  • The work requires constant attention to detail standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling and sometimes heavy lifting.  Must be capable of driver vehicles on dynamometers with speeds to match established computer grids.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
