(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Mayor Vincent C. Gray along with Shawn Stokes, Director of the DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR), announced the launch of the District Executive Leadership Program. The program will serve as the premier professional development opportunity for executives in the District of Columbia Government.
DCHR partnered with The George Washington University to design, develop, and deliver the program, which will strengthen executive-level talent through the use of cutting-edge learning and peer coaching. The inaugural cohort of 20 executives started the eight-month program this morning.
“I am excited that the District now has a strong program for executives backed by The George Washington University,” said Mayor Gray. “The program adds to the robust list of learning and development options for all employees.”
The District Executive Leadership Program will include proven innovative leadership practices and simulations. The curriculum includes the following principles: Organizational Leadership, Strategic and Systemic Thinking, Leading and Managing Change, and Execute Communication.
“I would like to thank Mayor Gray for supporting the Executive Leadership Program,” said Shawn Stokes, DCHR Director. “The program will enhance the supply of executive-level talent across the District by establishing a robust pipeline of leaders.”
