Mayor Bowser Announces the District of Columbia’s Inaugural Virtual Hiring Fair

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Tuesday, September 10th through Thursday, September 12th, the DC Department of Human Resources, will host the District’s inaugural virtual hiring fair. This three-day event is aimed at enhancing the interaction between residents, recruiters and hiring managers in the District of Columbia Government. Participating agencies include the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, the Department of Energy and Environment, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Employment Services, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Regulatory Affairs.

“We are excited to spearhead such an effort where we can meet residents exactly where they are, efficiently and effectively – while preserving the District’s resources,” said Ventris C. Gibson, DCHR Director. “We are certain we’ll engage a large audience of talented professionals in the District of Columbia.”

The cyber event will provide a sophisticated job fair simulation that enables real time interaction between District recuiters and qualified candidates. From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day of the fair, job seekers can chat with hiring managers from across District government and qualified applicants may have an opportunity to interview via confidential chat or phone call. Jobseekers will be able to claim additional preference for District residency, military service, and foster care as applicable in any other hiring event.

The virtual hiring fair will support any device from tablets and smartphones to desktops – with no hassle loading or wait times. Jobseekers are encouraged to pre-register and will receive step-by-step participaton instructions prior to the event.
