Challenge

April 7 – May 4

DC Government Employees, this is your invitation to take your health commitment to new heights with friendly competition – while you get outside and increase your physical activity. Whether you hike a mountain or jog around the block, you choose the activity — do the same thing each day or try something different — as you discover something new about spring each week.

In this 4-week program, logging exercise is simple with Spring Into Motion. If you’re using a tracking device or app, sync it with your computer and your steps automatically load into your Spring Into Motion account. You also have the option to record your favorite activity, along with dedicated exercise minutes, and the program automatically converts your minutes to steps. Plus, you'll have access to resources and tools such as delicious recipes, inspiring articles, motivating daily emails, team chat, and an engagement wall to help you connect and keep moving.

About

What is Spring into Motion?

It’s a fun, inspiring way to move more and discover Spring Things — from adorable baby animals and vibrant blossoms to worldwide festivals and gardening tips. Whether you’re a beginner or fitness enthusiast, Spring Into Motion will help boost energy and improve your physical, emotional, and mental health as you enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle — in this season of renewal and beyond.

How does it work?

Each week you’ll experience a new Spring Thing; once you record activity the daily image will become clear and you can test your knowledge with a fun trivia question (no points, no pressure). Plus, when you log at least 6000 steps — using a tracking device or the Step Converter tool to change exercise minutes to steps — you’ll earn points, colored rings, and the chance to collect badges. Click Settings, then How It Works to learn more.

What is the goal?

To earn 60 points (15+ a week):

6000-7999 steps = 3 points (green ring)
8000-9999 steps = 4 points (blue ring)
10,000+ steps = 5 points (yellow ring).

NOTE: You don’t have to wear a tracking device to record steps — plug in your activity and exercise minutes, then the Step Converter automatically adjusts them.

Set a challenging yet realistic target that develops exercise habits you can maintain for life.

Who can participate?

All District Government employees and your household members (13+). Spring Into Motion gives you simple, motivating tools to track progress, providing instant feedback from your favorite tracking device or app.

PLEASE NOTE: You can participate as an individual or as part of a team.

Is there team participating?

Yes! Joining a team is optional. In this friendly competition, teams of 3-6 challenge each other to add up points (the group that averages the most tops the leaderboard). Plus weekly Thrive Thursday challenges can add bonus points. After registering, read How It Works on the Team page to learn more.

Mobile App

Employees may participate online by computer or cell phone. Log activity, view recipes, visit attractions and track your team — right from the palm of your hand. The Spring Into Motion mobile app automatically syncs with your online account. Apps are free to download on the App Store or Google Play.
